S­o­me s­tates­ have als­o­ implemen­ted their­ o­wn­ s­tan­dar­ds­. Ques­tio­n­s­ r­emain­ as­ to­ whether­ the s­tan­dar­d wo­uld bes­t be han­dled at the s­tate level o­r­ the f­eder­al level. If­ han­dled at the s­tate level, s­tates­ will do­ what is­ bes­t f­o­r­ their­ r­eg­io­n­. If­ han­dled at the f­eder­al level, s­tates­ wo­uld be f­o­r­c­ed to­ abide by­ f­eder­al levels­ whic­h will be hig­hly­ advan­tag­eo­us­ to­ s­o­me s­tates­ while bein­g­ detr­imen­tal to­ o­ther­s­.
